Ephesians 4, Part 4
It’s A Love Affair!
By Tammy Lacock
“Be renewed in the spirit of your mind and put on the new man which after God is created in righteousness and holiness.” (Eph. 4:23-24, KJV)
Warren Litzman further explains how we “have not yet learned Christ” (Eph 4:20 KJV) through Ephesians versus 23 and 24. When we believed in Christ as our Savior, we were saved in spirit but not in our minds and hearts. The incorruptible seed of Christ now lives in us, but He now needs our minds to be renewed so we can grow up in Him and He can come out of us. This is where the Love Affair with Christ begins and grows. We need to learn Him, know who He is now as our new life and “put on the new man”; that is Christ. We need to be one with Him, not just in spirit which is where we are saved by God’s grace, but in our minds as well. Through renewal of our minds, our Love Affair with Christ becomes our everything.
Warren reveals three ways in which our minds can be renewed.
1. We must search the Scriptures and specifically Paul’s epistles. God chose Paul to bring this new gospel of Christ living in us to Jews and Gentiles alike in this dispensation of grace we are currently living in. Paul is the only one who knew about this new life in Christ, not Moses, not Daniel, not Isaiah, not David; nobody in the Bible was given this truth except Paul. We must ask the Holy Spirit for clarity and revelation of Christ in us as we go through his epistles.
2. We listen to the Holy Spirit directly to clear out the filters of our minds from all of the pollution we’ve accumulated in our lives and keep our minds open to his teachings and revelations of Christ who now lives in us. The Holy Spirit is a dove...he comes and goes but is always ready and willing to come when we’re ready for him. Make us ready!
3. We can turn to other godly Christians who know Christ in them. They can give us some direction in our thinking and help us give our mind over to Christ through the work of the Holy Spirit.
Christ is the answer. He’s the only way to our Father in Heaven. Through Christ, God is preparing us for our home in heaven with Him. He wants us to know Him before we arrive.
Yes, as believers, we are saved, but have we “put on the new man” in our minds? Are we living Christ as our new life now? Are you so in love with Christ, that you want the whole world to know?
Let the Holy Spirit renew the spirit of your mind and make Christ the Love Affair of your life!
