Following Paul, Part 2
Paul, Worthy of Our Followship
By Tammy Lacock
“Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.” (1 Cor. 4:16, KJV)
There are only two men God said for us to follow: Moses and the Apostle Paul.
Moses occupies 4,300 years of Old Testament time through Jesus’ earthly ministry, and Paul covers the time of Jesus’ death on the cross until the coming rapture of His people.
These are two very distinct biblical times, one governed by the old (the law) and one governed by the new (the final gospel).
God gave Moses the Ten Commandments. The people followed Moses and lived by the law, having to DO something in order to be acceptable to God.
Even before His death, Christ said to his disciples to pick up your cross and follow me, again having to do something in order to be who they were (Matthew 16:24, KJV).
However, through Christ’s death on the cross and His resurrection, God changed all that! The moment we believe, we are born again; the seed of His Son is birthed in us, never to be separated from Him again! Christ Himself gave Paul this Final Gospel of Christ in every believer. Christ raised up ONLY Paul to relay this message of grace alone to born-again believers.
By following Paul and hearing this Final Gospel, we understand that we are no longer who we are by what we do; we are who we are by Christ in us, continually growing up in Christ and doing only what the Holy Spirit tells us concerning Him.
Indeed, as followers of Paul’s Final Gospel, we are constantly pointed to Christ, to learn Christ and depend only on Christ, being matured into the full stature of God’s Son ready to live in our Father’s House. Paul assures us that there’s no need to worry or fear in the coming days because we have Christ in us NOW.
