Romans 5, Part 11

Christ Hath Abounded Onto Many

By Tammy Lacock

“But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.” (Romans 5:15)

Warren Litzman brings us the Scriptures as they are written, not interpretation. He passes on to us the Apostle Paul’s message of Christ just as Paul wrote it, so there is no room for interpretation.

In Romans 5:15, Paul explains that the failure of humanity over the course of 4,000 years, from creation to the cross, started with one man, Adam. Since then, his sin passed on to humanity. But by one man, Jesus Christ, through His death, burial, and resurrection at the Cross, we are saved from sin and death and begin our new life as believers in Him.

When He died, we too died to our old lives of sin. When He arose, we too arose to a new life in Him. Paul says in Galatians 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

In fact, only the Apostle Paul was raised up by Christ, Himself, to bring this final Gospel of Grace. By God’s gift of Grace, we are saved by just believing in Christ as our Savior. We are saved from the trap of sin and death that was passed down from Adam through the generations.

Warren explains that all Scriptures are for us but not all are to us.

Paul’s epistles are to us, for now. He tells us we are now living in a God-allotted time he calls the dispensation of Grace. During this time of Grace, the Holy Spirit is being poured out into the world, and many are coming to Christ.

Christ died so that we might live. He fulfilled the law that humanity had failed before His death and resurrection. When He died, we died, too. When He arose, we arose with Him to a new life in Him. We are no longer subject to the law. Christ sets us free.

This is Paul’s Gospel of Grace, the final Gospel.

For Christ said at the Cross, “It is finished.”

May we be followers of Paul as He followed Christ and pass on his message of Christ in us to all of humanity!
