Romans 5, Part 13
Christ, The Free Gift
By Tammy Lacock
“And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.” (Romans 5:16)
Warren Litzman goes on to clarify the Apostle Paul’s further explanation of the free gift of Christ in Romans 5:16.
Christ IN every believer is a free gift from God, justified by His death, burial, and resurrection. Just as one man, Adam, condemned all of humanity by his one sin, more so, one man, Christ, redeems every believer from all sin. Christ alone is justified to give us a new life, a new life IN Him. Our old lives are crucified with Him, and we arise with Him to a new Life (Galatians 2:20).
Warren explains that today, the world is trying to get rid of Christ. With all of its distractions, from incredible technology to turmoil in relationships, our minds can be disconnected from Him. But Warren reminds us that everything is created to push us towards Him, to know Him and our Heavenly Father. John says it perfectly in John 1:3, “All things were made by Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made.”
The Apostle Paul also shares his wonderful words in his 1 Corinthians 2:2, “I am determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.”
Paul accepted Christ as his Savior. He embraced and preached the gift of Christ as his only Life. He boasts that he is nothing without Christ.
How marvelously ironic it is that the greatest, most amazing gift of all is free!
