Romans 7, Part 2: Out With The Law In With Christ
Out With The Law In With Christ
By Tammy Lacock
“Know ye not, brethren (for I speak to them that know the law) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?” (Romans 7:1 KJV)
Warren Litzman explains Romans 7:1 a bit further. Paul is telling his brethren, his brothers and sisters in Christ, to forget the law in their new life in Christ. As believers, we are not to know the law anymore. The law will not save us. Christ fulfilled the law. Only Christ is our salvation. He says to lay aside and die to our past lives and arise and live fully in our new life in Christ. There’s nothing we can do to be saved. Christ did the work by his death and resurrection. By the Cross, we are saved from the law and brought into God’s Grace. As believers, our old lives, driven by the law, died too. And by His resurrection, we arose with Him.
As believers, Christ’s Spirit is now joined to our spirit, making us one Spirit and, therefore, bona fide children of God. Let the Holy Spirit comfort us now in this new understanding and reveal more to us about our new life in Christ each day.
Out with our sin-nature, bound by the law. IN with Christ, free in Him by God’s relentless grace.
