Romans 7, Part 11: Follow Paul as He Follows Christ
Follow Paul as He Follows Christ
By Tammy Lacock
“For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in the newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.” (Romans 7:5-6 KJV)
Warren Litzman continues teaching on Apostle Paul’s message of the born-again believer. Before we were saved, the only way to please God in our flesh was by keeping the law. But now, by God’s Grace, ushered in by Christ’s death at the Cross, His burial, and resurrection, we are no longer bound by the law. Christ—who now lives in each and every believer—is what pleases God. We died at the Cross with Christ (Galatians 2:20) and arose with Him as our new life. We are born again, rebirthed by God placing His only begotten Son in us. We are joined to Him in Spirit, now one Spirit. Christ is our new life. He sees Christ in us, and He is our redemption.
Nobody else but Paul knew how to live in this dispensation of Grace, from the Cross until the Rapture. Only Paul was raised up by Christ, Himself, to deliver an entirely new gospel, telling every believer they now have Christ in them. He urges us throughout his epistles to know the Christ who now lives in us. To know Christ in us is to know God. He explains how to live this new life, this Christ-life. And he urges us to follow him as he follows Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1).
Why should be follow Paul?
Has Paul become God? No
Is he greater than Christ? No
Is he greater than the Old Testament Saints? No
We follow Paul because he says so.
And I don’t know about you, but I’m taking God’s Word for it!
