Romans 7, Part 10: Be Married To Christ
Be Married To Christ
By Tammy Lacock
“Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.” (Rom. 7:4)
Warren Litzman’s podcast on Romans 7:4 further explains the Apostle Paul’s gospel that, as believers, we are joined to the Lord in one Spirit. Our new life is a marriage to Christ. Our old lives died with Him on the cross, and we arose to a new life, now married to Him. God’s ultimate intention from the beginning (Ephesians 1:4) was for Christ to complete every believer so that we would “bring forth fruit” and be free to be who He created us to be.
Warren explains the Apostle Paul was the only one who was raised up by Christ, Himself, to bring forth to the world this message of Christ living in every believer. This final gospel is for each and every one of us now, today.
Most Christians haven’t heard this final gospel. Yes, we believe in Christ as our Savior, but do we know what happened when we believed? Most Christians don’t know their very life is now Christ. No longer are they bound by the sin-nature. Christ came in and saved us from the death of sin and literally became our new life by His death. Paul is the only apostle who preached the details of the effects of the Cross and how Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection changed everything. It changed our relationship to God from an outward relationship to a personal relationship through His Son. A relationship where Christ is very much alive in us.
The question is: Now that you are joined in one Spirit, married to Christ, will you acknowledge that your old life was crucified with Him (Galatians 2:20) and let His Life come though you now? Will you cultivate this new love affair so that you can finally be free to be who our Heavenly Father created you to be?
